Full Moon

It has been a long time since I posted...oops.

I just had to document the "connor funny" that just happened.

He is about to go to bed (up way too late...even for summer) and he looked outside and saw the moon.

Connor: Wow Mom! Look at the moon!
Me: yes, wow...it is so big and bright. And it is a full moon.
Connor: it must have eaten a lot.

Such a sweetheart. :)

Additionally, today was the first day of the Providence Lake garage sale. After making quite a deal on an electronic Battleship game yesterday, he was up at 6:45 ready to hit the sales (that didn't open until 9:00). He kept asking me for money. Finally it occurred to me that on a brisk morning, he should earn his money...selling muffins and donuts. This neighborhood sale is a madhouse. He would learn all sorts of lessons in the process.

Too bad this brilliant idea came to me at 8:45 am. I didn't let it stop me and by 9:30-9:45 he and his friend Cam were set up in the driveway with chocolate and blueberry muffins, Connor-made sales signs, a full pot of coffee, little plates, coffee cups with lids, a communal stir stick, and 3 different kinds of coffee creamer. I did have to borrow 6 eggs and ground coffee, but we made it and each kid made over $9!

We will be out again tomorrow.

The whole process was MUCH easier with Declan asleep. The little man is EVERYWHERE. His new game is picking up pieces of mulch and running to the edge of the driveway and throws them into the road. Sweet. He does the same thing with rocks into the lake. Fun game.

He and Connor were both running around the house after dinner (homemade Mac & Cheese while Brian filled in for Mr. Tim on his golf league.) We took a selfie after both boys wanted to me ON my lap after dinner...I need to post it.

Anyway, I was talking to a friend and Connor was in his room building with newly purchased garage sale Brio blocks (that are too advanced for him at this point) and then we hear blood curdling screaming. I went running in there and Connor was crying. I asked what happened and he was pointing to Declan (who was backing away slowly) and Connor said, "he threw it at me". He was pointing at the floor and I saw an empty hanger. I said, "oh buddy, I'm sure it just scared you. It will be okay." (insert hug) Then I look at the floor again, there is also a very heavy metal stapler on the ground (Declan got it off the desk). Yes, he definitely threw the stapler at his head, NOT the hanger....

I feel Connor's head and there is a giant knot forming. I help him walk into the kitchen as I look for frozen veggies to act as an ice pack. Frozen chopped onions would work better than broccoli... Then I had to send Declan straight to the time out chair in the laundry room. He has only had to sit in it once or twice before. He was there a good 20 seconds before he got up. Then 10 seconds when I put him back.

Oh, and Connor said next time he would take broccoli...the onions stunk. hahaha!

I have so much work I need to be doing, but I lack motivation in a very big way. Today was sooo busy and a lot of fun and tomorrow will be the same. Perhaps I could watch one episode of season 2 Orange is the New Black before falling asleep and then I'll get up early tomorrow and work...

5 1/2 is funny

Earlier this week we were eating at the Zagar's house and there was a comb with a pick on the end on the counter. About 10 minutes into dinner, Connor holds up the comb and says, "Mom, this sure is a fancy fork!"
Of course it reminded me of Arial and "The Little Mermaid" thinking a fork is a comb...

Brian had to work at the Women's Expo today, so I got the baby seat put on my new bike (thanks Nana & MonteD!) and we pretended it wasn't 39ยบ outside. We made it around our big loop and about 100 yards from our house Connor chimes in, "Mom, why don't we just spend winter at the beach? The ducks do it."
Very good point, little man! :) Ducks also don't have jobs. But what I loved most was that I know he didn't hear this from somewhere else. He didn't say "fly south" or "migrate", just go to the beach. :) What is ridiculous is that his first time stepping in the ocean was at Castaway Cay on our cruise. He didn't feel great and the water was too chilly to really splash & play. The beach to him is along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Connor walked in on my plucking my eyebrows this afternoon. He was horrified. "Mom, WHAT are you doing?!" I tried to explain. "Why don't you want any eyebrows?" "Doesn't that hurt?" "You will look funny if you don't have eyebrows." In the end, he approved and said they were even. :)

His favorite game on Brian's iPad is "Stack the States". He knows many of the states now by shape and can place at least 10-15 on the map. Trying to raise him right. The only problem is that is still requires some major assistance for him because he can't read the questions. (Brian and I are now experts on US trivia and I got a new high score on the capital conveyor belt game: 72!) The last few days, all of C's artwork that he creates during "free choice" time at school has been American flags. He knows that we love them and I also think he likes practicing his stars. We only got in one argument over the amount of tape needed to adhere said flag to the fridge (stainless steel = no magnets).

Declan struck again in Connor's room. In addition to finding ALL of my hidden snack places (I admittedly hide kid-type snack food around the house so we don't eat it when we are grazing in the pantry. I say, "we" and I mean it...but I mainly mean Brian. :) Well, Declan finds ALL of the places and comes out with treats of all kinds. He runs up to me saying "Mum." with his little arms out. He is currently sporting his second black eye and a gash in his chin from a week and a half ago that probably could have used some stitches or glue, but it was on daddy's watch and he is fine. Good thing he's a boy. :) The black eye was at a neighbor's house. I'm not sure what happened, but she said he cried for about 45 seconds and had a red bump on his cheek. So of course it turns into a black eye. I digress.

[I assume] Declan broke the CD portion of Connor's clock in his room. I assume this because I've seen Declan walking around with it, and there is no way that is good for the machine. The little man drops or throws just about everything. Connor is all about routine and part of his routine is books, prayers, night-night music. He's been at a loss without music for the last week. I gave him Declan's sound-machine giraffe, but he said it just wasn't the same. Tonight I finally took the CD player from Declan's room into Connor's (Declan doesn't like listening to it anyway...he actually cries if it is on). It had a CD that Leslie/Gramma gave to me/Connor when he was just an itty-bitty baby. Connor asked if I was going to put his CD in and I said that I wanted him to listen to his very first night-night music tonight. He obliged. We have a space heater in the boy's jack-n-jack bathroom to heat both rooms and I leave the door closed until I turn off C's light. I told C I was going to open the door and asked if he was okay. He replies, "I'm just having a happy cry." What?! "Yes, a happy cry. I love my music, and this song, and I'm so glad I have it back." omg. My little love. :)

I'm trying to think of other funnies. Oh, he told me recently that he only takes a bath if it is a pattern. Yes, a pattern. Like, "Bath, no bath, Bath, no bath". or "Bath, Bath, no bath, Bath, Bath, no bath." I was not trying to be too much of a smarty, but asked if he was going to throw a shower in there or just stick to baths. :)

This morning he came in our room at 7:30 wanting me to get up....on a Saturday. Like the mother-of-the-year that I am, I told him he could turn on Netflix if he wanted and I would get up at 8:00. He couldn't find the remote (We have a chair that literally eats the remotes. Getting them out is like performing surgery.) When I came out at 8:00, I found 4 fully assembled puzzles on the fireplace hearth. He did come in our room twice, but I'm so proud of him for not harassing me...like he normally does. He put together 8 more this morning. The little guy is getting so stinkin' smart.

Oh, the other night when he was begging me to "watch a show" before bed, I finally caved and said he could watch one show in our bed. I was listing several shows that we have recorded on the DVR. "Octonauts, Rescue Bots, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Daniel Tiger, Sesame Street, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" (Declan LOVES the last 3 in the list and Connor actually likes to watch them with him.) But I was really surprised to hear him choose Sesame Street. I looked at him questioningly and said, "Really". His response, "It is the longest." Of all the shows in the list, it is the only one that is an hour... See, I'm in trouble. He is smart as a whip!

Mitsy & Santa Claus

When I got up I saw a bag of Nerf "bullets" in the hall right outside our bedrooms. Seriously, the BAG with a few scattered around.

Connor got up, even though I told him to stay in bed. He brought me the bag of bullets while I was in the shower (because when is the last time I actually took a shower alone??).

"Mitsy is like Santa Claus. She brings us 'presents' in the night."

Brought lovingly all the way upstairs from the playroom floor.

Navigation & Toys

Connor has been saying so many cute things lately that it is tough to remember them long enough to share...or add to the blog.

However, yesterday we were in the car heading to Toys R Us. I found a gift card in my wallet from a long time ago and thought he would approve of that "errand" whole heartedly!

After getting gas, I spoke into my phone, "Take me to Toys R Us". Siri began directing me to a store on the other side of town (because I hate 28th street and the store there is gross).

Connor chimes in from the back seat: Does she know where Toys R Us is?
Me: yes
Connor: I bet it is because she {Siri} has a son that loves toys too.

Love him...too young to understand GPS navigation...I think I am too young..or old to understand it too!

fireflies

There is something absolutely magical about watching an almost 5 year old boy catching fireflies in the summertime. He gets delighted with each catch and wants to add as many as possible to his "collection". He's learned how to not kill them.

When they crawl on him for a long time before flying away he says, "I think it likes me!"

When it takes off in flight he says, "Have a nice flight home to your family."

Melt.

There was only one encounter when he wanted to know if he could put them where it is warm....in the citronella candle....um, I don't think so. :)

"It's easy to catch them, Mom. You just follow the light and clap your hands carefully."

——

We are enjoying this moment in our newly finished patio under our deck. I'll have to post pictures. The sofa made me want to scream because it arrived on Tuesday without any hardware....urg. I wasn't willing to wait the 7-11 days so I found replacement hardware at Home Depot today. Anyway, I LOVE the new space and will work out here at night until the temperatures (or bugs) don't allow.

——

Mom, can I squish it?

——

He fell asleep right next to me while I finish up some projects (just a few more before my official hiatus). I thought he was completely asleep. I lean over and whisper, "Do you want me to carry you to your bed?"

Without missing a beat. "Why don't you carry me to YOUR bed instead."

Brian gets home from Vegas tomorrow. Maybe one more night with me. :)

——

This is random from today.
1) Connor had a mini-meltdown when I picked him up from school because the YMCA CDC picnic was this afternoon from 5:00-7:00. We went last year and it was awkward and ridiculously HOT! I knew Brian was going to be gone, so I just didn't sign up to take a dish and thought we'd pass. He said, "but I even made a watermelon...I promise I'm invited." I felt horrible. He was in tears, burying his face in my side. I look gross. Declan is wearing a onesie, no pants or shoes and has no sunscreen on. Several of the teachers saw Connor. I explained. They said it was absolutely fine for us to come. Then Connor says through sniffles, "But we didn't bring anything." I know, buddy. It will be okay. So, we went for a while until I thought Declan had had enough sun and Connor listened the moment I said it was time to go. Crisis averted.

2) In the car going to Target, Connor started talking about the boxes we were returning. There were 3 boxes in the back and one in the front. "That equals 4 boxes!...Man, I am good at my equals!" :)

3) "Mom, what rhymes with lizard?" I offer "Blizzard". Connor: "and wizard". Me (a little too excited I guess): YES! THAT IS A GOOD ONE! Connor: "Mom, you scared me with your surprise!"

4) (yesterday) Connor: Here mom, you take this plane to play with...but don't make it dance, just roll it like a normal person.

Love my buddy. 4 (almost 5) is fun most of the time. Never a dull moment.

feat

Connor uses this term all the time, "feat", but he really means "defeat". It is so stinkin' cute.

"Batman sure has a lot of guys to feat."

He uses it correctly, the word itself is just a little off. :)

No glittering.

Connor was upset because while at a red light he saw an empty coffee cup about to go into the sewer drain. We explained that it isn't nice to litter.

"Yeah, some people shouldn't glitter. " :)

All people and it is "litter", but I know his Nana would agree with his statement completely. :)

The things 4 year olds say....

I am trying to remember all the funny things Connor has said this week. There is seriously never a dull moment.

I think it was yesterday he was telling me not to dance again. (I very frequently just turn the TV to "todays country" station and will dance with Declan in the living room.) I told Connor that he didn't have to dance and that he didn't even have to watch me dance, but that I was going to continue to hold Declan and "bounce" to the music.

Connor: "Mom, this is a living room in a house, not a dancing place." I think that was his version of "we do not live in a club...stop dancing"

There are more...some that I told my mom...I need to get her to remind me.

Oh, and we left Connor alone in the living room with a Costco sized container of blueberries. Big mistake. He ate the entire thing in ONE SITTING. I was sure that he was going to have bathroom issues, but I guess he has some sort of super bowel because to my knowledge there were no digestive issues.

"Bam Soup"

Connor has renamed Ramen Noodle Soup, "Bam Soup". He lovingly refers to hitting as "bamming". I'm not exactly sure when this started, but maybe with a Disney Christmas special called Prep & Landing. I don't remember the exact context, but one of the characters in the show said, "Jingle Bam"....I digress.

So, he told me he wanted "Bam Soup" the other day. I had no clue what he was talking about. During moments like these, I often have to step back and attempt to think like my 4 year old. He helped me out a little when he said, "yeah, mom...when we were making soup and you let me bam it first." A-ha! I let him break up the dried noodles before putting them in the boiling water.

I will never call them Ramen Noodles again. Bam Soup it is.

———

There are also "Bam Balloons": an awesome find at the Dollar Store with 4 in a pack. You "bam" the package and it expands until a tiny balloon explodes out of it. We got these for all of his classmates to put in their valentines....big hit for sure!!

Before i forget

This morning, Connor was deliberately late for school. We learned last week, while Brian was out of town, that Declan does much better when he wakes up himself instead of being awakened to retake Connor to school before 8:30. This just means that he needs to eat breakfast at home. No big deal.

Declan usually wakes up on his own around 9:00.

As Declan began to stir, Connor was finishing his waffle and I was trying to get clothes on as quickly as possible. C called me for something and I walked into the kitchen without pants on.

His comment to me, "Mom, you are just wearing legs."

I've never thought about it like that before. Instead of an absence of pants...just legs. This should also be catalogued with "just feet"...not to be confused with "bear feet". Homophones are a b*tch for 4 year olds!!

haha—Saturday morning

Brian is drinking coffee out of a mug with a picture of Connor on it from when he was 6 weeks old.

Brian: Connor, who is this on my mug?

Connor: That's me!

Allison: Does it look like "baby boy" — what Connor calls Declan about 75% of the time.

Connor: It certainly does.

Seriously..."certainly"?! Coming out of the mouth of a 4 year old, it is too funny.

——

Just now, Brian and Connor are playing catch with a stuffed football.

Connor didn't catch the ball that Brian threw.

Connor: That was a bad throw dad. You are not going to get the Heisman.

oh my goodness... guess whose father is already campaigning? :)

——

Meanwhile, Declan is just chillin' in his vibrating seat (not vibrating) and his fingers are "pruny" from semi-sucking on them. He might just take to his index and middle finger of his right hand like his mommy did..... :)

BBE — best baby ever!

He cried for a while because he still wasn't ready to go to bed last night at 11:00, but once I finally got him down, he slept until after 7:00. Then he went right back to sleep until 10:30. He woke up all congested, but super happy. I had to pump for the first time since the beginning of December because I didn't want to explode. BBE — 3 months old, photo below taken yesterday.

The other reindeer

Connor is at such a fun age right now.

I really need to do better about documenting the cute things that he says and does.

Today's cannot be overlooked for forgotten.

I was feeding Declan in his room before getting ready to drop the boys off at the O'keefe's house while I ran to get my hair cut. I asked Connor to get dressed. He does this all by himself now and is extremely proud...especially of his ability to put on his socks. :)

Connor shouts out of his closet, "Mom, can I wear the green, Christmas shirt with a reindeer on it?"

I have absolutely no clue what he is talking about, but I respond, "Sure."

A few moments later, the door opens to Declan's room and Connor is struggling with the hood of the sweatshirt going over his head. He is otherwise naked.

My heart smiled.

"The reindeer goes in the front, Mom."

My precious son.

Underwear, socks, & pants were later added to this "festive" ensemble. Oh, and he changed the hat to his navy Nike hat with a white swoosh. :)

Instagram Pics

I love Instagram. I do wish that I could just edit the picture sometimes and not "post" it anywhere...even to Instagram itself, but oh well.

Also, I've seen people do collages and include multiple images in one Instagram frame. If you know how to do this...please share. :)

Oh and a quick Connor "funny" before I forget about it...
When I picked up Connor from school on Thursday, I saw his teacher, Ms. Mary in the hall. She told me she had to share what Connor told her that day because it was so cute:
"Ms. Mary!! When, I turn 5, I'm going to go to flower garden!"
Ms. Mary was puzzled, but smiled and nodded. Classmate Bennett approaches and says,
"Yes, when I turn 5 I'm going to go to kindergarden, too!!"

Kindergarden will now be known as flower garden. :)

Here are a few Instagram pictures I've taken in the last couple of weeks.
The petunias in our window boxes still look decent even in September. Several days later, (after not watering) they weren't looking so nice, so now they are mums...dark purple and magenta mums to be exact.

Connor and the "family" of pumpkins he selected for us at Countryside. The "giant" one was only $7, so I snagged it up while I had the chance. Connor's favorite is the one he picked out for Declan. :)

This bizarre photo was taken just 2 days ago...37 weeks + 1 day. Yes, that is my belly and yet it looks like some giant arm or leg. I was trying to show how lopsided the child is inside. I'm pretty sure that the pointy part on the left side of the picture is his little butt... The kid is out of room and I'm ready for him to come!

Ok, not an Instagram picture, but a random one that Brian took of Connor wearing the new Ergo that I got for D, but with Jingle the dog in it instead. Then there is me in teh background with a lovely round belly.

This photo was when Brian was still in CA and Connor wanted to have a "movie night" and watch it from his "tent" in the basement. he just looked so stinkin' cute...always with his legs crossed.

Connor has a recent fascination with super heroes. This was the very first time he ever asked me to make him a "cape". We simply tied one of his baby blankets around his neck and he was thrilled. My favorite part however is that he told me that I couldn't fly because I didn't have a cape. Therefore, my only option was to "flap my arms like a chicken". Lovely.

"We have a bullet in the ceiling at home."

My current Facebook status:

Got quite the look from the Target check-out lady when Connor told her that "we have a bullet in our ceiling at home".....that would be a nerf suction cup dart....stuck ON the ceiling at home. Not sure if she believed me or not. I can just imagine the conversation around her dinner table tonight...

In addition to this fun, I got to meet Brian's boss today. He stopped by the house at around 2:15 this afternoon. I guess I should be thankful that I was dressed, had a bra on, & brushed teeth. Other than that, it was pretty rough. Here is how it went down...

I have a lot of work to do today after not doing ANY this weekend. To clarify, I did absolutely NOTHING yesterday of any kind because I could barely function due to an awesome cold that has shaken me to my core. Connor was being very patient and I was trying to get a few proofs out to clients before we ran some errands this afternoon. Connor decided he needed to rub something on my head. No real harm done, but I told him he needed to go get a brush and "fix" it. He told me it would require water. (The first time I let him "do" my hair with water was when my Granny was visiting and I ended up with liquid soap in my hair, so keep in mind this could have been worse.) His hair almost always requires water, so I guess this is my payback. I put up a fight at first and told him only a brush, but eventually gave in. I also told him he needed to bring a full-sized towel from his bathroom to put around my shoulders so we didn't get the chair...or me....soaking wet. This was a good plan, right. Keep him occupied while I get these proofs out.

He worked on it and used 1/2 bottle of water on just the top of my hair and then would proceed to brush it. I have no make-up on. I'm sitting on the floor in a maternity jean skirt and red t-shirt.

Knock on door.

Probably a solicitor...we've been bombarded recently.

It is Alek Rivard (neighbor) asking me to open the garage door so he can get the lawnmower out to cut our grass (since B is still in California). I opened the garage.

Standing behind him is a very nice looking man in a tie...could be a solicitor...but he parked in the driveway.

"Hi, I'm Jeff Irish."

Crap.

Of course I asked him to excuse my appearance and explained that Connor had been working on my hair. :) I introduced him to Connor. He shook his hand and then Connor said, "How about a high five?" That was cute. Connor also mentioned something about his birthday wreath and talked about his birthday for a few seconds before disappearing inside with his Transformer Prime Optimus Prime. He had to transform him to show Jeff. Meanwhile, we had a nice conversation and he thanked me for my support, especially being pregnant and with Brian being gone for so long. He gave me a head's up about a few things about the job and we just had a nice overall chat near our front porch. It honestly didn't even occur to me to invite him inside. The house is not trashed, but then again it was also not "meet the boss" clean either....toys in the living room, blinds down, random paint can on the entry table...

Then Connor appeared again. This time with his new Nerf, suction cup dart gun. I did not "coach" him, but was just praying that he didn't 1) shoot Jeff or 2) shoot the darts off into the yard somewhere while Alek was now mowing the grass.... Instead he aimed straight up and shot at the wooden ceiling of our front porch. After 2 attempts and the suction cup stuck. After about 20 seconds, it dropped. New game. This lasted about 5 minutes. Jeff handed me a yellow envelope and told me "Thank You" and then said the contents of the card are "not for Brian". I told him it was very nice to meet him and that next time I will hopefully not look or or sound like I did today...

It was a $100 Visa gift card. Nice.

Anyway, Connor took one final shot as Jeff was leaving. This time it stuck...and didn't come down.

I came inside, put the navy blue towel down, and glanced into the mirror. Rough, but not as bad as it could have been....I had "messed with" my hair a bit during our conversation so it at least wasn't matted to my head in whatever fashion Connor left it in. I finished my proof, put a little makeup on and got ready to run errands. I wrote Brian and gave him a brief synopsis of this post. Connor began explaining that he was going to get the green ladder so he could get the dart down. "It isn't safe for you and the baby." You are right kid, but that doesn't mean that climbing a 6 foot ladder is safe for a 4 year old.

Anyway, we were off to Target. I guess his dart was still fresh on the brain which is how his random comment to the check out girl came about....

Connor cuteness...

Yesterday evening while I was in the office cutting some invitations to send out, Connor opened a drawer under the daybed and found Brian's old-old camera case...one for a point & shoot with film.

Connor immediately said, "Mom, it looks like a 'Shellington' bag!" Shellington is a character on one of his favorite Disney shows, Octonauts.

SHELLINGTON SEA OTTER
Dr. Shellington is a nerdy sea otter scientist who loves doing field research and working in his lab. He's easily distracted by rare plants and animals, but his knowledge of the ocean is a big help in Octonaut missions.
Anyway, I found it to be completely adorable. He proceeded to "pack" it with an invitation he made himself for his birthday party next week. This is what he worked on while I made his actual invitations. (I still can't believe I am going to go to Chuck E Cheese's in the summer....bring on the hand sanitizer, and pray it is not 85ยบ next Wednesday!)

I digress.

Then Connor said, "Hey mom, we need to go on a picnic to the clubhouse with my brand new Shellington bag." Although it was already 7:45, how could I say "No"?
When we came upstairs, ready to go outside he asked me to wait while he packed us juice boxes and fruit snacks to share on our "picnic". — be still my heart.
I convinced him to let me shorten the straps a little bit and put it on him across his body, and we were off. Once we got to the clubhouse, he was all business. I asked if he wanted to ride around the loop or play on the playset. Nope... "We can just share our snacks at this table right here...so we can watch the fish and the ducks." (overlooking the lake from the clubhouse). When we finished (he only packed one of each, so we most definitely had to share) he wanted to play on the playset for a few minutes, then had to go pee, so we headed home.

Obviously, this is not an overly exciting post, but an example of our sweet kid that I want to remember.

Of course this happened only an hour and a half after he injured 9 year old, Ian while we stopped briefly to talk to Tim/Tammy this afternoon. I'm still not sure what happened, but Ian came in teary and said something about Connor hitting his head into the ground (?!?). Why a 9 year old would allow an almost 4 year old to do this is beyond me, but I still needed to address the issue. When I went outside to ask Connor what happened and encourage an apology, Connor told me he couldn't come in to apologize...he was already in time out. Of course we went in to find Ian to check on him and for Connor to apologize. I sent him up to Ian's room. He returned 2 minutes later. I asked if he apologized. He shook his head no. At least the kid is honest. I went with him this time.
Then he told me it was time to go home. As we were walking home, he told me he made a "mistake" and a "bad decision".

I wanted to make a pit stop & take my new ultrasound picture to Rita's next door, but I told Connor he could go inside our house. When I came back in (Rita didn't answer the door) he was sitting in the time out chair. Since I'm not the one that sent him there, I asked him how long he was going to stay there. 3 minutes...because he's still 3. That kid....  I still don't know exactly what happened, but at least he took some responsibility for his actions.

Connor funnies...

Before I forget..

We were in the car and for the first time in well over a year I hear Connor say, "Look Mom! There's a 'windy car'!" I just love this. We never called convertibles by this name....just something he came up with on his own a long time ago. I think he's pretty smart... :)

——

On Sunday, Father's Day, Brian was cutting the grass and I offered to use the week whacker ("Grass Hog" I think) around all of our metal edging. Meanwhile, Connor was running around outside playing with whatever. Then I saw him pour water on the side of my car out of a plastic cup he retrieved from the kitchen.... Not the best plan to pour water on a car while it is still in the garage. This pregnant mama does NOT want to slip and fall, that is for sure. Then I saw the spray can of sunscreen on the floor. I picked it up...WAY too light. I'd gotten onto him earlier in the day for spraying it (while sitting at the kitchen table). I asked if he sprayed it. "Yes, I washed your car." Holy cow. Almost an entire can of sunscreen all over the side of my car and windows. What I witnessed was "rinsing". Oh boy.

I'm ashamed to say that I barely even looked at it. I just got the can away from him and reprimanded his actions...even though he already knew what he was doing was wrong. Of course this is after he spread mulch all over the driveway with the giant broom... Oh, he was in rare form on Father's Day.

Anyway, all of that to get to the story from today.... This is as told by Brian because I was not there.

Brian and Connor took my car to the car wash to clean all the sunscreen off. Connor told him the windows were "burly". :)

He meant blurry.

——

He also asks us to "fer-cord" and "fer-lete" shows from our DVR. We aren't sure why he adds "fer" but he obviously means "record" and "delete". And along those same lines, when a show comes on he asks, "is it fer-corded?" or "is it going to cut off" (because it records a few extra minutes of shows, so he frequently gets to see the first few minutes of another show before it cuts off).

——

Connor told me in the bathtub tonight not to worry when he lets the water out...he is too big to fit down the drain. Also, just fyi....Herons that fish in our lake (and have an amazing ability to eat multiple whole fish in minutes) "don't eat boys". You are right kiddo. Girls on the other hand may need to watch out. :)

God knew to make kids super cute. It increases their chances of survival into adulthood dramatically. :)

I am so fortunate that I have really liked all of the stages of Connor's life so far. I was not one that wanted him to stay a baby forever, but I am looking forward to experiencing all of the "firsts" all over again with Declan. 3 3/4 is a lot of fun too... I look back at videos from what doesn't seem like that long ago and he has grown SO MUCH in what is really such a short amount of time. Humans are amazing.

Connor's mad at Mommy....rambling...

Apparently I was being punished for getting too far ahead of him while we were riding around the track at our neighborhood clubhouse. He doesn't forget things, and will make you pay....

hiccups

I'm not exactly sure about the context, but here is a Connor "funny" for you (and for me to remember).

Brian witnessed this one and is still cracking up about it.

Last night while helping Brian take out the trash...

McKenzie (4.5 year old across the street): "Connor, you wanna come over to play?"
Connor: "Sorry, I can't. I have the hiccups. Maybe later, oh-k-aay?"

What in the world?! He claimed to have them earlier in the day, but I never actually heard him "hiccup" and since when did they prevent you from playing outside with a friend?!

Glitter Box

I can't remember the surrounding conversation, but yesterday Connor told Brian and I that Mitsy uses a "glitter box". I asked if he said "litter box". His response, "Yes, mom, she uses a glitter box."

Oh the visual of an actual glitter box....love that little man.

"Don't say me no."

"Don't say me no." really means "don't TELL me no." HA Just one of his cute little sayings that I know will not last forever.

The other night while Skyping with Grandma & Grandpa Chief he was diving on the couch. I told him he needed to stop. His response, "Don't say me not to jump. Just say me to keep jumping." It sounds so backwards to me, but it obviously makes complete sense to him!

Of course my main reason for asking him to stop jumping/diving on the couch was because I could just see him flipping off and breaking an arm or landing on his head, etc. etc. I am not an overly cautious mom, but come on....that is just asking for an accident....or a broken couch too!

Well, while I was at the store yesterday and while Brian was in the kitchen, Connor managed to somehow scrape his face on the fireplace. I guess he could have just kept jumping on the couch. When I got home, Brian told me to go see Connor in our bed. He was holding a frozen fish (plastic) to his head (sort of) and drinking juice. (A drink has always made his ow-ees go away....that or it just plugs his mouth so it is tougher to cry!)

Here is a picture I just took with my phone. It looks a lot better today actually. Or course it was fun to explain at preschool today. His classmate, Shane put his hand on the glass of their fireplace and has 2nd degree burns, so this looks pretty mild.
