I don't think I've ever heard of a baby under the age of one dropping down to only 1 nap per day. Well, our little man has NEVER been much of a napper and today marks the third day in a row that he has slept until 9:30 or later! Although this is great for me, it pretty much throws his nap "schedule" out the window. I can't exactly ask him to take a "morning nap" at 10:30 when he's been up for less than an hour!
The first day this happened, I put him down at 11:45 and he slept for 45 minutes and then he didn't show any signs of being tired again until 6:30 pm....that is a bit late for an afternoon nap if you ask me! By the grace of God, he only slept another 45 minutes and successfully went down for the night around 9:15...I was expecting much worse. That is only 45 minutes off his normal bedtime.
Yesterday, I decided I was going to try to one nap.....hopefully a good, long nap. I managed to keep him awake and pretty happy until 1:20. He slept for 2 and a half hours! For some kids I think this is very normal, but Connor very rarely goes for more than an hour and a half...tops. So, he got up around 3:45. He did get pretty irritable around 7:00 and I thought we were going to have to start the whole bedtime routine an hour earlier. His bath did calm him down, but then he played for a while and went to bed right at around 8:30.
That bring us to this morning. It is 10:00 and he's been up for about a half hour. That means it is just about breakfast time. I never dreamed Connor would keep such weird hours before he even turned one, but I guess each kid is different. As soon as I pretend to have this phase figured out, I'm sure he'll change again, but for now, we are going to try for one long nap again today.
(I know Connor's newborn feet don't really go with the post, but I just scanned them in yesterday and thought I'd add.)
