Mitsy & Santa Claus

When I got up I saw a bag of Nerf "bullets" in the hall right outside our bedrooms. Seriously, the BAG with a few scattered around.

Connor got up, even though I told him to stay in bed. He brought me the bag of bullets while I was in the shower (because when is the last time I actually took a shower alone??).

"Mitsy is like Santa Claus. She brings us 'presents' in the night."

Brought lovingly all the way upstairs from the playroom floor.

Navigation & Toys

Connor has been saying so many cute things lately that it is tough to remember them long enough to share...or add to the blog.

However, yesterday we were in the car heading to Toys R Us. I found a gift card in my wallet from a long time ago and thought he would approve of that "errand" whole heartedly!

After getting gas, I spoke into my phone, "Take me to Toys R Us". Siri began directing me to a store on the other side of town (because I hate 28th street and the store there is gross).

Connor chimes in from the back seat: Does she know where Toys R Us is?
Me: yes
Connor: I bet it is because she {Siri} has a son that loves toys too.

Love him...too young to understand GPS navigation...I think I am too young..or old to understand it too!

fireflies

There is something absolutely magical about watching an almost 5 year old boy catching fireflies in the summertime. He gets delighted with each catch and wants to add as many as possible to his "collection". He's learned how to not kill them.

When they crawl on him for a long time before flying away he says, "I think it likes me!"

When it takes off in flight he says, "Have a nice flight home to your family."

Melt.

There was only one encounter when he wanted to know if he could put them where it is warm....in the citronella candle....um, I don't think so. :)

"It's easy to catch them, Mom. You just follow the light and clap your hands carefully."

We are enjoying this moment in our newly finished patio under our deck. I'll have to post pictures. The sofa made me want to scream because it arrived on Tuesday without any hardware....urg. I wasn't willing to wait the 7-11 days so I found replacement hardware at Home Depot today. Anyway, I LOVE the new space and will work out here at night until the temperatures (or bugs) don't allow.

——

Mom, can I squish it?

——

He fell asleep right next to me while I finish up some projects (just a few more before my official hiatus). I thought he was completely asleep. I lean over and whisper, "Do you want me to carry you to your bed?"

Without missing a beat. "Why don't you carry me to YOUR bed instead."

Brian gets home from Vegas tomorrow. Maybe one more night with me. :)

——

This is random from today.
1) Connor had a mini-meltdown when I picked him up from school because the YMCA CDC picnic was this afternoon from 5:00-7:00. We went last year and it was awkward and ridiculously HOT! I knew Brian was going to be gone, so I just didn't sign up to take a dish and thought we'd pass. He said, "but I even made a watermelon...I promise I'm invited." I felt horrible. He was in tears, burying his face in my side. I look gross. Declan is wearing a onesie, no pants or shoes and has no sunscreen on. Several of the teachers saw Connor. I explained. They said it was absolutely fine for us to come. Then Connor says through sniffles, "But we didn't bring anything." I know, buddy. It will be okay. So, we went for a while until I thought Declan had had enough sun and Connor listened the moment I said it was time to go. Crisis averted.

2) In the car going to Target, Connor started talking about the boxes we were returning. There were 3 boxes in the back and one in the front. "That equals 4 boxes!...Man, I am good at my equals!" :)

3) "Mom, what rhymes with lizard?" I offer "Blizzard". Connor: "and wizard". Me (a little too excited I guess): YES! THAT IS A GOOD ONE! Connor: "Mom, you scared me with your surprise!"

4) (yesterday) Connor: Here mom, you take this plane to play with...but don't make it dance, just roll it like a normal person.

Love my buddy. 4 (almost 5) is fun most of the time. Never a dull moment.
